How important is it for you to retain your cultural foods as you move forward in life? Explain the importance and which foods you cannot live without.

There are some foods that have been passed down to every new generation. I think still re making those foods hold a wonderful meaning. A food I can't live without would be mole. Usually this special entre is shared with family. I think in the mecican culture food brings family together and being able to enjoy eachothers prescnce. In class we did a small poster about the cluturla foods we have in our lives and what do they symbolize. Today, I feel good and I hope I can take a nice nap after school when I get home.

How would you feel if your privacy was invaded online or on your phone? Do you think privacy is a basic civil liberty?

I wouldn't be too happy if my privacy was invaded online. I don’t necessarily have anything to hide but I just wouldn't like the public to look at my personal stuff like my information or information of my family. I guess its more about feeling protected and just not knowing what the public would do with the information. Cause I know some people are weird and will try to find your location or something. Today was a continuation of making the comic strip from the vocals we were given. I do think privacy is a basic civil liberty. In class we didn't get to finish the comic strip, but that's ok because we were still going to get full credit. Today, I feel ok, just feels like any other day.

Describe what you did over the winter break

Over the winter break the imminent would happen. I knew I would forget and be left with several missing assignments when I returned to school. My lack of organization impede s me from finishing my work on time and putting my whole effort into my work. I try not to let it impinge on my fun during the break. Today, we created a comic strip using all the vocabulary words we learned in class. It was kinda hard to create something unique with all the words but I was able to get half of it done. Today, I hope I'll be able to give my dog a bath because she needs it.

Describe your idea of a perfect day spent with someone you care about.

Going to a McDonald orChickfila with my friend is the perfect day. If money wasn't a problem, we'd go out daily. But the perfect day would be us going to a concert and afterward going out to eat and enjoying the ride to and from the concert. Today, was a chill day only going over new vocabulary in class. I feel pretty good today, and I'm thinking of getting Chick-fil-A on my way home.

Write about a time when you faced a challenge, an obstacle, or a moment where you had to push yourself beyond what you thought was possible.

I was put into a chemistry class in my sophomore year not knowing what to expect. I assumed it would be a doable class like my math classes. As we got into the semester, the lesson only grew more difficult and confusing for me. I knew it was possible to pass this class with an A but I didn't know how to retain the information nor how to study for chem. But a major thing that was holding me back from being able to do any of these was to ask for help. I used to think asking for help was only for those who struggled and would never get it towards the end. I seriously don't know how I came up with that mentality, but now whenever I don't understand something I'm going to ask for help because those who do care enough and take the time to do better or improve their work.  It wasn't until I began to go to tutoring sessions with my teacher that I was surprised to see a few people who I considered to be more advanced or thought they were doing very well in the class. So fro...

Write about a time when you had to rely on your mother (or any other prominent female in your life) during your time of need.

It was my sophomore year when I had a surgery done to my intestine and I wasn't able to be physically independent. I had to rely on my mom to help me get up from bed to go use the restroom or having to tell her when I was in pain and needed of medication. Today, we read over a poem about a mother’s love and care. I truly do think that women just have that motherly instinct to where you just have this sense to care and protect someone or just their children in general because its such a strong bond you don't want anything bad happening to them. Ive been feeling pretty upset these past few days and I don't know why because its not way of doing things.

What life skills have you learned in high school that will help you live independently after high school? Which skills do you think are essential for your success after high school?

Becoming independent throughout my highschool is a skill that will help me live after highschool. Many people like to have big friend groups and copy each others work, but I think that closes you from reaching your own full potential. Being independent can help you discover yourself and form your own opinions without needing the validation of others. Today, we did a newsela about the bill of rights and to me it wasn’t interesting, but we got it done. When I go home after school, I’m going to take a 3hr nap.

It's Super Bowl weekend! Some people watch the Super Bowl for football, others for the commercials, and some just for the halftime show. What’s your favorite part of big events like this, and why?

I don't know anything about football. Instead id only look at it for the halftime show. I know Beyonce is going to perform her new country album, but I don't think it was that good nor for it to win best album of the year at the grammys. Im having high hopes for Kendrick’s and SZA’s performance though. Today, we went over how to brainstorm for our writing we have. Im very sleepy today, especially since its Friday, but we have one more week of school and then we’ll have a break. (I didn't know we had a break coming up until today)

What is the most challenging part of writing an essay for you? Is it brainstorming, organizing ideas, writing a strong thesis, or something else? How do you plan to overcome this challenge?

The most challenging part about whirting an essay, is to put your thoughts into words. I'll know the answer, why, and the evidence to a contructive response or when writting a paper, but I don't know how to make sure my words are organized and to make it flow. Today, we did en example how to write a body paraghpagh to soon write a paper of our own. Writing papers once used to be my favorite things to do but as the years went on, that passion faded. I don't like writing papers because often I am asked to write a 750+ word narrative now with MLA format and it must be "perfect". Once I get home, I have to help my mama because yesterday I ended sleeping from 6pm to 7am in the morning today.

If you had to write a poem about your life RIGHT NOW, what would it be about? Explain your answer in at least 4 to 5 sentences.

Prompt Response:  If I were to write a poem about my life right now, it will be confusing. I am happy that will graduate soon, but I am scared to grow up in a way. I want to move far away where there is no people, but it is nice to be around them, and I’d also want to give up and drop everything, but I’ve already come this far and accomplished many things. I am in the state where I’m feeling uncertain because I think even one simple choice can change the rest of your life. Summary: Today, I wrote notes on how to write a thesis statement.  Reflection:  Again, these skills will help us now that we are going to college and are going to have to start writing serious paper work. Today, I’m sleepy because I ended up staying up to study for a test, so once I get home I’m going to take a fat nap.

Describe a time when you had to speak in front of an audience. What were your fears? How did you handle them? What advice would you give to someone struggling with stage fright?

Prompt Response:  I remember in kindergarten when I had to talk in front of an audience for Hispanic Heritage Month. I don't necessarily remember why I was there, but I had to talk about Guatemala. I'm glad I wasn't as shy as I am now, but I was able to handle the pressure more than the other kids before me. Summary: Today, we wrote some notes on formal writing.  Reflection:  Learning these skills can help us in the future. As we enter college, it is best to learn and understand these skills to present ourselves as professionals when needed. Today, I am sleepy and I still have to get home and study for my first calc test.
